Chris Kay Fraser BA MEd- Creative-Writing and Memoir-Writing Workshops

sarah sheard Chris Kay Fraser, BA, MEd., is a writer and facilitator who is passionate about bringing the transformative role of story to people's lives. She has taught memoir writing and creative writing workshops to seniors, at-risk youths, young children, women escaping abuse, yoga teachers and university students. She has also worked in various creative mediums with families in crisis in Glasgow, Aboriginal children in a remote Northern Australia and families facing political trauma in Northern Ireland.

Chris believes that telling and sharing personal stories can create connections and bring deep healing on personal, community and political levels. Her Master's degree in Adult Education and Community Development at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) has allowed her to delve deeply into models for story telling and sharing, methods of facilitation, transformative learning, arts-informed research, and has helped her to create and share some of the stories on her own path.

As well as teaching weekly classes in creative writing and life-writing from her home in the east end of Toronto, Chris is currently seeking funding for a writing program for low-income new mothers and a writing group for LGBTQ youths. She's also creating an oral history archive for the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto, she is a working artist with Learning Through The Arts, and she's writing her grandmother's memoirs.
