Michelle Tocher - Myth and creative writing workshops
Formerly founder of a health communications company, Michelle Tocher spent nearly twenty years producing educational programs before she began writing books and helping people to heal through stories. With a practical understanding of the power of myth and its relevance to everyday life, her books and workshops support creative people who wish to deepen the meaning of their work and their lives. She is unique in her ability to help people write their stories and engage in a dialogue with the myths and fairy tales that speak to them.
Michelle is author of the celebrated book How to Ride a Dragon: Women with Breast Cancer Tell Their Stories, which has been described as a “beautifully crafted tapestry of mythology, fantasy, narrative and first-hand human experience.” In collaboration with career counselor Anna Simon, she has also written Brave Work: The Hero’s Journey at Work, a must-read for people who are seeking emotional and spiritual guidance through work transitions. She is currently launching her first novel, The May Queen, a poignant story that revolves around May Galloway, a modern day Faerie Queen who breaks the silence in her family and heals the wounds of the heart.
Michelle has Masters degrees in History and in Journalism. Last year she was Artist in Residence at Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto, a cancer support center for men, women, teens and children living with cancer. She teaches courses in Toronto, offering her programs independently and in affiliation with other organizations that specialize in storytelling, career counseling or wellness.
